The state government has accelerated the Indiramma Housing Scheme with the aim of providing dignified living conditions to the urban poor. As part of the first phase, plans have been made to construct one lakh houses in urban areas, while identification of government land for LIG housing has begun in 24 constituencies.
In this context, Ministers Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy and Mohammad Azharuddin, along with Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi, inspected government lands in Nampally, Malakpet, and Bahadurpura constituencies. Officials reviewed the suitability of land for housing construction in these core urban areas.
The minister stated that housing will be constructed within the same localities where the poor currently reside, instead of relocating them far away. He added that while rural housing projects are already underway, one lakh urban houses will also be taken up on a large scale.
