Panic gripped passengers aboard an IndiGo flight from Kolkata to Chennai after the aircraft suffered a left-engine failure shortly before landing at Chennai airport on Tuesday night. The flight was carrying 224 passengers, and the technical issue emerged while the aircraft was on its final approach. Following the engine failure, the pilot immediately alerted Air Traffic Control (ATC), prompting Chennai airport authorities to declare a full emergency and activate the necessary safety protocols.
Emergency teams at the airport were placed on standby as the aircraft prepared for landing. Despite the engine malfunction, the pilots managed the situation and brought the aircraft safely onto the runway at around 11:37 pm. No injuries or casualties were reported in the incident. Authorities are expected to examine the aircraft to determine the exact cause of the engine failure.
