Doctors at Osmania General Hospital have achieved a historic medical milestone by successfully performing the country’s first multi-visceral transplant involving five organs on a single patient. The complex procedure included transplantation of the stomach, duodenum, pancreas, small bowel, and right colon, marking a rare achievement in Indian medical history.
The highly complicated surgery lasted for 36 continuous hours and was performed on a 30-year-old engineer from Sircilla. State Health Minister Damodar Rajanarsimha praised the medical team for their dedication and success, stating that the achievement highlights the advanced level of healthcare being delivered in government hospitals and further strengthens Telangana’s reputation in the medical field.
