India and Russia have signed a significant agreement aimed at enhancing mutual cooperation in the legal sector. Chief Justice of India Justice Surya Kant and Chief Justice of the Russian Supreme Court Igor Krasnov formalized the pact. The agreement is expected to promote collaboration in judicial processes, exchange of legal knowledge, and strengthening institutional frameworks between the two nations.
Speaking on the occasion, Justice Surya Kant emphasized that both countries are committed to upholding public trust in the judiciary. He stated that while systems evolve and technology advances, the core duty of courts remains delivering justice. He highlighted that artificial intelligence can assist in areas such as data management, translation, transcription, and administrative processes, but it cannot influence judicial decisions or determine witness credibility. He underlined that judicial discretion remains paramount in delivering fair judgments.
