He was serving as the Managing Director of Seattle-based venture capital firm Madrona Venture Group. Born in Puducherry, Somasegar had a distinguished career spanning nearly three decades at Microsoft, where he held key executive roles before stepping down in 2015. He later joined Madrona Venture Group and became an influential investor in several startups worldwide. Notably, just hours before his death, he was named in the SEED 100 list of top early-stage investors for 2026.
