A 17-year-old Indian-origin teenager, Arjun Aravind, has been accused of killing his 45-year-old mother, Sudha Venkatesan, and his 14-year-old younger brother, Siddharth Aravind, at their home in Acton, Massachusetts. The incident took place on August 11 and has drawn international attention. According to Middlesex County District Attorney Marian Ryan, both victims were found with obvious traumatic injuries. The exact cause and manner of death are pending the medical examiner’s findings. Authorities have also said investigators uncovered disturbing online activity involving Arjun, including the use of ChatGPT to create fictional stories and explore fantasies involving violence against his family.
The case came to light after Arjun’s father contacted police when he was unable to reach his wife and son. Officers who arrived at the family home found Siddharth’s body on the first floor and Sudha’s body in the basement. Arjun was not at the residence and was believed to have fled in his mother’s car. Police later located him and took him into custody. He faces two murder charges along with additional allegations including assault and battery and unauthorized use or theft of a vehicle. The investigation remains ongoing, with authorities awaiting further medical and forensic findings.
