Indian Navy Successfully Concludes IOS SAGAR Mission

The Indian Navy marked the successful conclusion of the IOS SAGAR maritime mission with the ceremonial flag-in of INS Sunayna at Kochi on May 20, 2026. The major initiative brought together 16 partner nations from the Indian Ocean Region (IOR), highlighting India’s commitment towards regional maritime cooperation and collective security under the theme “One Ocean, One Mission.”

Guided by the vision of SAGAR — Security and Growth for All in the Region — and MAHASAGAR, the mission strengthened strategic partnerships, enhanced naval cooperation, and promoted maritime stability across the Indian Ocean Region. The deployment also reflected India’s growing role in fostering regional unity and collaborative security efforts among friendly nations.
