Amid the West Asia crisis, Indian diplomat Vikram Doraiswami strongly responded to a comparison between India and Pakistan in the context of US–Iran mediation. He said such comparisons are unfair and unnecessary, and India should not be equated with Pakistan. He made these remarks at a conference in Beijing while answering a journalist’s question.
Doraiswami highlighted that India’s global partnerships in economic, peace, and security matters are far more extensive and significant. He urged countries to recognize their own global standing realistically. He emphasized that India’s role in international affairs is much broader and stronger, making comparisons with Pakistan inappropriate.
