INDIA Bloc to Discuss Action Against CEC

INDIA bloc parties are set to meet at the Constitution Club in New Delhi on September 30 to discuss their next course of action against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. According to reports, top leaders of the alliance, including Congress leaders Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, along with Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, TMC chief Mamata Banerjee, Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray and CPI(M) general secretary M. A. Baby, are expected to attend. The meeting is likely to focus on the alliance’s response to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and the demand for action against the CEC.

The meeting comes after an Indian Express report said Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi had formally raised objections to several decisions concerning electoral rolls and the SIR process. The report said the two commissioners recorded objections multiple times over the past 10 months. However, Election Commission officials rejected the claim of internal disagreement, stating that all decisions, including those related to SIR, were taken with the approval of all three commissioners. The INDIA bloc is expected to discuss demands for an independent inquiry and possible nationwide protests over the issue.
