Leaders of the INDIA bloc are seeking to meet President Droupadi Murmu to raise concerns over the functioning of the Election Commission of India. They plan to submit a representation highlighting what they describe as unilateral decisions by Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The leaders also want an inquiry into developments related to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and reported differences among election commissioners.
The opposition leaders are also scheduled to meet at Samvidhan Sadan in New Delhi to discuss their next course of action and plans for a nationwide campaign. Their proposed representation comes amid ongoing protests over the SIR process and demands for accountability from the Election Commission. The timing of the meeting with the President has been reported differently by various outlets, with some reports indicating that the bloc was still awaiting confirmation.
