The Central Government has taken a key decision to immediately suspend sugar exports in order to stabilize domestic prices and ensure adequate supply in the country. The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry has issued an official notification in this regard. The restriction applies to raw, white, and refined sugar exports, effective immediately.
The ban will remain in place until September 30 this year or until further orders are issued. However, shipments that have already begun loading or have been handed over to customs will be allowed for export. The government also clarified that existing export commitments to Europe and the United States will not be affected by this restriction.
