Former minister Konda Surekha has opened up about her dismissal and the political developments surrounding her. Speaking to TV9, Surekha said that she was not asked to resign before being removed from her ministerial position. She maintained that she had committed no wrongdoing and claimed that she had discharged her responsibilities effectively during her tenure as a minister.
Surekha also addressed criticism over statements made by her daughter Sushmita. She said that Sushmita’s personal opinions have nothing to do with her and questioned why family members should be held responsible for statements made by others. She further alleged that the arrest of her family member Sumanth was politically motivated and said she was being deliberately subjected to mental pressure. Surekha stated that she has not yet decided whether to continue in the Congress and will discuss her political future with her family before taking a decision. She also said she has no fascination for political posts and believes her work during her tenure was carried out fairly.
