One of Hyderabad's most iconic landmarks, Taj Banjara, is being demolished to pave the way for a premium high-rise residential development. The 3.5-acre lakeside property has been acquired by Auro Realty for an estimated ₹315 crore. Demolition work began in late April and is expected to continue for another four months, after which construction of an approximately 40-storey luxury tower is likely to begin.
Taj Banjara has been an integral part of Hyderabad's hospitality landscape for decades. The hotel was initially managed by the ITC Group until 1986, after which Taj GVK Hotels took over operations and successfully managed the property for nearly 40 years. While the redevelopment marks the end of an iconic chapter, it also signals the beginning of a new phase in Hyderabad's premium real estate landscape.
