Hyderabad is set to strengthen its eco-friendly public transport system with the addition of 60 new Olectra electric buses under the TGSRTC 500-bus project. As part of the final phase, the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC), in partnership with EVEY Trans Pvt. Ltd., is launching these 12-meter low-floor electric buses from the Kukatpally depot. With this rollout, the ambitious 500 electric bus project has reached completion, marking a significant milestone in the city’s green mobility initiative.
The project includes 450 non-AC and 50 AC electric buses, which are already operating from various depots including Cantonment, HCU, Miyapur, Hayathnagar, and Ranigunj. With the addition of the final 60 buses, daily passenger usage is expected to rise from around 1 lakh to 1.2 lakh. These buses feature zero-emission technology, modern safety systems, comfortable seating, and low-floor design, offering a smooth and eco-friendly travel experience while reducing pollution in Hyderabad.
