Hyderabad Ganesh Immersion Nears End

The Ganesh immersion process in Hyderabad is nearing completion, with the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) stepping up sanitation operations across the city. Officials have accelerated the removal of waste along the routes used for immersion processions, particularly around Hussain Sagar, where large quantities of discarded flowers, puja material, decorative items and other waste have accumulated. GHMC teams have been working continuously to clear the roads and immersion points. According to the civic body, around 6,000 metric tonnes of waste was collected over two days.

Across the three municipal corporations, officials said around 13,000 metric tonnes of waste was collected and is being transported to the Jawahar Nagar dumping yard. Sanitation workers are facing difficulties in removing paper-based waste and other debris generated during the celebrations. GHMC has deployed around 15,000 personnel for the cleanup drive and aims to complete the major sanitation work by Sunday evening. Officials also said around 3.10 lakh Ganesh idols have been immersed across Greater Hyderabad, including approximately 66,000 idols in Hussain Sagar, with the number of immersions reportedly 10% higher than last year.
