Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan has shared the fascinating story behind how he got the name "Pawan." Speaking on his first-ever podcast with journalist Smita Prakash, he revealed that his original name during his Namakaranam ceremony at the Yoga Narasimha Swamy Temple in Tirumala was Sri Kalyan Kumar. He explained that the prefix "Sri" was later removed from his school records, leaving him as K. Kalyan Kumar, with the letter "K" representing his family surname, Konidela.
Pawan Kalyan further revealed that the name "Pawan" was added by one of his martial arts instructors before he entered the film industry. Impressed by his strength during rigorous martial arts demonstrations, including lifting nearly 400–450 kilograms on his chest while stone slabs were broken over it, the instructor compared him to Pawan Putra Hanuman and gave him the name "Pawan." The revelation from his debut podcast has since gone viral, with fans celebrating the inspiring story behind one of Telugu cinema's most iconic names.
