Houthis Launch Missile and Drone Attacks on Saudi Aramco Facilities

Yemen’s Houthi rebels have claimed missile and drone attacks on Saudi Arabia, marking a fresh escalation in tensions between the two sides. Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree said Aramco facilities in the Red Sea cities of Jizan and Yanbu were targeted with missiles and drones. The group described the strikes as retaliation for Saudi airstrikes on Yemen, including attacks on Hodeidah. Reports said Saudi air defences intercepted ballistic missiles headed towards oil facilities, while the Houthis claimed their operation had struck its intended targets.

The latest attacks come amid renewed confrontation between the Houthis and Saudi Arabia. The Houthis had earlier announced a naval blockade against the kingdom, saying it was retaliation for what they described as a Saudi blockade on Yemen. The move has raised concerns over maritime security and energy shipments through the Red Sea region. The UK has also condemned the Houthi threats, warning that such actions could endanger freedom of navigation and further destabilise the region.
