Saudi Arabia has reportedly come under missile attacks targeting major international airports, including King Fahd International Airport in Dammam and King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh. According to reports, the attack on Dammam took place around midnight on Sunday, with the extent of the damage yet to be confirmed. A second wave of attacks reportedly targeted Riyadh airport, where one person was said to have lost their life. Located around 410 kilometres from Riyadh, Dammam is an important industrial city on the Arabian Gulf coast, and its airport serves as a significant aviation hub. The reported attacks have raised concerns over aviation safety and regional security.
The Houthis have reportedly warned passengers and airlines against travelling to Saudi airports, stating that they would continue their actions until Saudi attacks against them stop. Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi called for Saudi Arabia and the Houthis to resolve their differences through dialogue, saying Iran does not seek conflict with neighbouring countries and that the Houthis operate independently. Türkiye strongly condemned the reported attack on Riyadh airport, describing such strikes as contrary to international law and calling for an immediate halt. The United Kingdom has also issued travel advice urging its citizens to avoid travel to Saudi Arabia unless necessary, with particular caution advised for Jeddah, Dammam and Madinah airports.
