A $250 currency note featuring US President Donald Trump may soon be introduced, with only congressional approval remaining for the proposal to move forward. This development comes shortly after plans were announced to issue a special gold coin featuring Trump to mark the 250th anniversary of US independence. Reports suggest that the US Bureau of Engraving and Printing has been instructed to prepare prototype designs for the $250 note. If approved, it would mark the first time since 1866 that a living person’s image appears on US currency.
Meanwhile, the US Department of Labor reported that initial unemployment claims rose to 215,000 last week, slightly higher than the previous week’s 210,000. In addition, inflation in the United States increased to 3.8% in April 2025 compared to the same period last year, reaching a three-year high. These indicators highlight ongoing economic pressures in the country.
