

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated that the state is firmly progressing towards becoming a Rs 10 lakh crore economy by the year 2028. Speaking in the Assam Legislative Assembly, he highlighted that Assam’s Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) has witnessed rapid growth over the last five years. According to the Chief Minister, the state’s economy has expanded from Rs 4 lakh crore in 2021-22 to an estimated Rs 8.71 lakh crore this year.
CM Sarma said Assam is recording an annual economic growth rate of nearly 13 to 15 percent, reflecting strong development momentum across sectors. He further added that this growth will contribute significantly to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of building a USD 5 trillion Indian economy. The state government remains confident about achieving the ambitious economic milestone within the next few years.
