

A high-level security conference was organised by the Hyderabad unit of the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) to effectively tackle cyber frauds and telecom-related crimes. The meeting focused on strengthening coordination among government agencies and improving cyber security measures. Telecom Director General Anand Khare, Special Director General Deepa Arora, Hyderabad CP Sajjanar, Telangana Cyber Security Bureau SP Harshavardhan, CID officials, RBI, SBI and telecom service providers participated in the conference.
During the meeting, Anand Khare said that over 5 crore fake mobile connections have been removed across the country and more than 12 lakh lost or stolen mobile phones have been recovered. CP Sajjanar highlighted the success of ‘Operation Octopus’ in controlling cyber frauds. The Telangana Cyber Security Bureau presented a report on the use of artificial intelligence in the telecom sector, while cyber crime officials shared insights on fraud networks and ghost SIM networks.
