Telangana Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy announced the formation of a high-level committee to address issues related to lands listed under Section 22A of the Registration Act. Following an extensive review with Collectors, Additional Collectors, RDOs and registration officials from Hyderabad, Rangareddy, Sangareddy and Medchal-Malkajgiri districts, the minister said the committee would meet every week to examine pending applications and take decisions. He said 511 applications were pending in Medchal-Malkajgiri and directed officials to resolve all pending 22A applications across the state by the end of the month.
The minister said a toll-free number, 1800 5994788, has been established to provide information and assistance on prohibited lands, with responses expected within three days. Officials were instructed to clearly explain the reasons whenever registration is not possible and refund registration fees wherever applicable under the rules. Ponguleti also said comprehensive reports would be prepared on Bhoodan lands, pending disputes and possible solutions. The government is reviewing ULC lists and addressing discrepancies involving survey records, GHMC records and land classifications. In cases where only portions of larger parcels fall under prohibited categories, officials have been directed to identify the actual affected land through geo-tagging and consider freeing the remaining eligible portions from the prohibited list.
