High Court Slams AP Police

The Andhra Pradesh High Court strongly criticised the conduct of the police while hearing the forgery case registered against former Speaker and YSRCP leader Tammineni Sitaram and his family. The Court observed that law and order must be enforced strictly in accordance with legal provisions and not at the discretion of the police. It questioned why Tammineni Sitaram and his wife were named as accused when the disputed registered document was in the name of their son, and expressed concern over allegations of false cases and altered witness statements.

The High Court directed both the police and the complainant to file detailed counters and adjourned the hearing to July 29. However, it declined to grant interim protection from arrest to Tammineni Sitaram and his family, stating that they may seek anticipatory bail if they fear arrest. The Court also asked the petitioners to produce evidence regarding the financial transaction related to the disputed property purchase before proceeding further.
