The Special Investigation Team (SIT) informed the Kerala High Court that it has gathered fresh evidence in the alleged irregularities related to gold plating of guardian deity idols and sanctum doors at the Sabarimala temple. The latest report points to the involvement of former Travancore Devaswom Board president P.S. Prasanth. The High Court bench directed the SIT to incorporate these findings into the existing FIR or register a fresh case.
According to the report submitted by SIT officer S. Sashidharan, the scam involved misuse of gold during plating works, with several officials and members implicated. The idols were allegedly shifted to Chennai in 2019 and again in 2025 without proper authorization, using minimal gold and misappropriating the rest. The court adjourned the next hearing to July 20.
