The Andhra Pradesh High Court has directed authorities to cancel allegedly fake house pattas distributed in Machilipatnam before the last Assembly elections within four weeks. The court ordered officials to submit an affidavit detailing the action taken against the pattas, which were allegedly distributed by former MLA Perni Venkataramaiah (Nani) and his son Kittu. The petition alleged forged Tahsildar signatures, fake survey numbers, and irregular land records in the issuance of the pattas.
The issue had earlier sparked protests by opposition leaders and local representatives, who submitted documentary evidence alleging large-scale irregularities. Despite official complaints and internal reports highlighting discrepancies, action remained limited. After hearing the Public Interest Litigation (PIL), the High Court directed the administration to cancel the fake pattas and report compliance, bringing renewed attention to the alleged land document scam.
