Security has been tightened across Delhi ahead of the CJP’s proposed protest at Jantar Mantar on October 10, demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Around 23,000 Central Armed Police Force personnel and nearly 20,000 Delhi Police personnel are expected to be deployed across the national capital. The Union Home Ministry has made 221 CAPF companies available to the Delhi Police from October 8 to 12, including 85 CRPF, 10 SSB, seven ITBP, seven Rapid Action Force and one CISF company.
Security has also been intensified along Delhi’s borders with multi-layered barricading and enhanced surveillance. CCTV monitoring will be conducted through control rooms, while face-recognition cameras may also be deployed. Railway stations, bus terminals and other key locations will remain under watch. Delhi Police said on October 8 that permission had not been granted for the proposed protest at Jantar Mantar and urged people to avoid unauthorised gatherings. The Election Commission and BJP have denied the allegations of irregularities in the electoral process made by CJP.
