The Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA) has issued a weather alert warning of widespread rains accompanied by thunderstorms across Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema regions. APSDMA Managing Director Prakhar Jain stated that a trough extending from Bihar through Jharkhand, Odisha, and Chhattisgarh up to the Coastal Andhra region is influencing the current weather conditions. Additionally, a low-pressure area is likely to form over the southwest Bay of Bengal within the next 48 hours due to the impact of an upper-air cyclonic circulation over Sri Lanka.
Officials said heavy rains with lightning are expected in Coastal Andhra till Thursday and in Rayalaseema till Tuesday. Gusty winds with speeds ranging from 30 to 50 kmph are also likely in several areas. Authorities advised people to avoid staying in open places and seek shelter in safe buildings during thunderstorms. Farmers were urged to take precautions while carrying out agricultural activities and avoid standing under trees during lightning and rain. People were also warned not to stay near old buildings or large hoardings during strong winds.
