A trough of low pressure over the south Bay of Bengal is influencing weather conditions across Tamil Nadu, bringing heavy to very heavy rainfall to coastal areas. Chennai’s Meenambakkam recorded the highest rainfall at 12 cm, while Nungambakkam received 11 cm. Heavy rain is likely to continue across Tamil Nadu for another three days. In view of the adverse weather conditions at sea, authorities have advised fishermen not to venture into the sea for fishing.
Meanwhile, a trough extending up to North Andhra Pradesh is likely to bring rainfall to several districts in the state. Polavaram, Konaseema and Markapuram are among the areas expected to receive rain today. Light to moderate showers are also likely in Prakasam, Nellore, Kadapa, Chittoor and Tirupati districts. Residents are advised to remain alert and follow weather updates and official advisories.
