Heavy rains lash Mumbai, Red Alert issued

Heavy rains continue to batter Maharashtra, especially Bhiwandi and Mumbai regions. The India Meteorological Department reported that several parts of Mumbai received up to 10 cm of rainfall in the last 24 hours, leading to severe waterlogging and flooding-like conditions on roads.

An IMD Red Alert has been issued predicting more heavy rainfall today. Schools and colleges have been declared closed from afternoon. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has advised residents to step out only in emergency situations.
