Heavy Rain Alert for Coastal Andhra

A surface circulation formed over the west central Bay of Bengal near the North Coastal Andhra region on Monday. A trough extended from this system across South Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Marathwada, and Gujarat up to the Arabian Sea. Due to its impact, several parts of Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema received light to moderate rainfall. Elamanchili in Anakapalli district recorded the highest rainfall of 6.67 cm, while a maximum temperature of 36.5°C was recorded at Jangamaheswarapuram.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast light to moderate rainfall across several parts of Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday, with heavy rain likely at one or two places in Bapatla, Ongole, Nellore, and nearby Tirupati districts. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea as strong winds of 40–50 kmph are expected along the coast. Thunderstorms accompanied by rain are also likely in parts of Srikakulam, Parvathipuram Manyam, Alluri Sitharama Raju, Polavaram, Krishna, and NTR districts.
