Due to a sudden rise in the number of devotees visiting Tirumala, TTD officials cancelled the SSD (Sarva Darshan) tokens that were scheduled to be issued on Wednesday at three counters in Tirupati for Thursday’s darshan. Officials said the token issuance for Friday’s darshan will continue as usual from Thursday afternoon. The decision was taken to manage the increasing crowd at Tirumala.
The cancellation of SSD tokens for the fourth consecutive week has caused inconvenience to devotees travelling from distant places. For Wednesday’s darshan, 10,000 time-slotted SSD tokens were issued at 5 AM on Tuesday, along with another 2,000 tokens for devotees using the Srivari Mettu footpath route. The quota was exhausted within an hour, leaving many devotees waiting at the counters. Devotees criticised the repeated cancellations, saying it creates difficulties for those travelling long distances.
