BRS MLA and former minister T. Harish Rao urged Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to protect Telangana's rights over Tungabhadra waters. He demanded that the state government immediately oppose Karnataka's alleged illegal projects and safeguard the interests of the RDS, Thummilla and Bhima projects.
Harish Rao alleged that Karnataka's Kuridi (2 TMC), Chikkalaparvi (2.5 TMC) and Chikkalamanchi (5 TMC) projects would reduce water inflows to Telangana. He stated that Karnataka was already utilizing nearly 5 TMC of water against its allocated share of 1.2 TMC in the RDS project.
The former minister demanded that the state government lodge objections with central water agencies and take legal action if necessary. He suggested approaching the Supreme Court to protect Telangana's water rights and said the BRS would continue its fight for the interests of farmers and irrigation projects.
