BRS Assembly Deputy Floor Leader Harish Rao has accused the Congress government of turning Singareni Collieries into a centre of alleged corruption, nepotism and administrative failures. He urged the government to abandon any move towards privatisation and announced that the BRS was preparing to launch a direct protest over coal miners’ grievances. Speaking to the media after a meeting with TBGKS representatives and public representatives from Singareni areas at Telangana Bhavan on Thursday, Harish Rao questioned the delay in announcing the company’s profit-sharing benefits ahead of Dasara. He claimed that workers received a 32% profit share under the previous BRS government, while the share declined under the Congress administration.
Harish Rao raised concerns over alleged outstanding dues of around ₹50,000 crore, delays in opening mines and restrictions on dependent employment. He also sought an explanation from Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka over the reported decline in coal production. His demands included payment of the full profit share to workers, dependent jobs for eligible candidates, timely payment of dues and the conduct of Singareni elections. He announced that the BRS would organise a large public meeting titled ‘Singareni Karmika Garjana’ in Ramagundam on October 14 to press for the resolution of workers’ issues. BRS working president K. T. Rama Rao is scheduled to attend the meeting, according to Harish Rao.
