Hamas military chief Izz al-Haddad has been killed in Israeli strikes in Gaza, according to a statement released by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). Hamas has also confirmed his death.
He is identified as one of the key planners of the October 7, 2023 attacks on Israel. Reports also stated that his wife and daughter were killed in the same strike. After the death of Mohammed Sinwar, Haddad had taken over key responsibilities within Hamas’ military wing.
The IDF stated that Haddad played a major role in planning attacks against Israeli forces, including strategies involving hostage situations used as human shields. He was also involved in rebuilding Hamas infrastructure, and is believed to be the last remaining commander linked to the October 7 attack planning.
