HAM Road Works Must Be Completed on Time - Minister Seethakka

Telangana Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Minister Danasari Anasuya Seethakka said the state government is taking up construction of Gram Panchayat buildings in saturation mode so that every Gram Panchayat has its own building. The government has sanctioned ₹1,000 crore for 5,118 buildings, of which construction work on 3,269 buildings is reportedly around 70% complete. The remaining works are targeted for completion within this year. The minister also said buildings for women’s self-help groups are being constructed in 8,000 villages with ₹800 crore, with several works nearing completion.

Reviewing rural development programmes in Rangareddy district, Seethakka directed officials and contractors to complete ongoing works within the stipulated time while maintaining quality standards. She said rural roads are being developed under the Hybrid Annuity Model and instructed officials to give special attention to works in the erstwhile Nalgonda, Mahabubnagar, Rangareddy and Medak districts. The government aims to improve connectivity between rural habitations and major centres through better road infrastructure. Recent reports also indicate that HAM rural road works across Telangana are scheduled to begin from October 25.

The minister also directed officials to take advance measures to prevent drinking water shortages during the coming summer in view of the expected El Niño conditions. She called for drinking water management committees at the mandal level to assess water availability, identify alternative sources and focus particularly on tribal and remote habitations. Officials were also asked to expand employment guarantee works, with emphasis on water conservation and creation of durable rural assets.

Seethakka instructed officials to speed up pending works and ensure that there is no compromise on quality. She said Gram Panchayat buildings, women’s group buildings, roads, drinking water, employment guarantee and water conservation works should be implemented in coordination to strengthen rural infrastructure across Telangana.
