H-1B Visa Holders Shouldn’t Be Blamed for Americans’ Job Woes- Indian-Origin CEO

Indian-origin CEO and Circle Plus Pay founder Nitish Kannan has spoken out against blaming H-1B visa holders for Americans’ employment concerns. His comments come as the Trump administration continues efforts to tighten visa policies with the stated aim of prioritising American workers. Kannan pointed out that only a limited number of H-1B visas are issued each year compared with the millions of jobs available across the US, arguing that the programme alone cannot explain the employment challenges faced by Americans.

Kannan also said hiring an H-1B worker is a costly and complicated process for American companies. According to him, when qualified American candidates are available, companies have little incentive to go through the additional expense and administrative requirements involved in hiring foreign workers through the H-1B programme. He criticised the argument that Americans are unable to find jobs despite opportunities being available and said blaming the H-1B system for the situation was misplaced. Kannan also revealed that he faced online trolling and was even told to leave the country over his views, responding that he was born in the US and is an American citizen.
