Government Issues Alert on Farmer ID!

The Farmer Registration process in Telangana has been continuing for nearly one and a half years, yet it remains incomplete. Agricultural Extension Officers (AEOs) are still visiting farmers' homes to register those who have not enrolled. The Farmer ID has become essential for purchasing urea, selling crops, and availing central government welfare schemes. Despite the availability of registration through AEOs and MeeSeva centres, only 71.38% of eligible farmers have completed the process so far.

Out of 77.56 lakh pattadar passbooks in the state, only 55.36 lakh farmers have registered. Among them, 42.26 lakh registrations were completed through AEOs, while 13.10 lakh were done via MeeSeva centres. Peddapalli district recorded the highest registration rate at 88.94%, whereas Medchal-Malkajgiri and Rangareddy districts remain among the lowest. Many farmers are completing registration only after discovering that benefits under schemes like PM-Kisan are unavailable without a Farmer ID.

Officials said the major reasons for the delay include mismatched Aadhaar and passbook details, pending inheritance updates, unlinked mobile numbers, OTP failures, server issues, and outdated biometric records. The government has clarified that Farmer ID will become mandatory for schemes such as PM-Kisan, Soil Health Cards, Fasal Bima, and may also be required for purchasing fertilizers in the future. Farmers have been urged to complete registration at the earliest to avoid disruption in receiving government benefits.
