The Andhra Pradesh government has provided compensation of ₹10 lakh each to the families of six fishermen who went missing while fishing at sea. State Excise and Mines Minister Kollu Ravindra, along with public representatives and officials, distributed compensation cheques worth a total of ₹60 lakh. Each family received ₹5 lakh from the Fisheries Department and ₹5 lakh from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund.
Minister Kollu Ravindra said that search operations were launched immediately with the help of the Coast Guard and the Navy after the incident was reported. As the fishermen remained untraceable even after 72 hours, the government sanctioned compensation on the directions of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. He added that search operations are continuing and assured full support to the affected families.
