Amid discussions over a possible increase in mobile recharge tariffs, Reliance Jio has relaunched its Jio Prime Membership with a new price-protection benefit. Available from August 20 for a one-time fee of ₹300, the membership will allow eligible users to lock in current recharge prices for one year, helping them avoid the impact of a tariff hike during the membership period. The move is aimed particularly at customers who recharge regularly and want greater certainty over their annual mobile expenses.
Jio has also indicated that its ₹299 plan will continue, while Prime members will be able to retain the applicable price benefit during the guarantee period. The membership is optional, and customers who do not subscribe can continue using regular Jio recharge plans. Additional benefits such as cashback vouchers and other digital-service privileges are also associated with the revamped Prime programme. Jio had originally introduced Prime in 2017 at an annual fee of ₹99, primarily as a loyalty programme with special benefits. The 2026 version shifts the focus towards price protection amid changing telecom tariffs.
