The Union Government has introduced a major convenience for foreign devotees visiting Tirumala for Lord Venkateswara’s darshan. Tirupati Airport has now been added to the list of airports where foreign nationals holding eligible e-Visas can enter India and complete immigration formalities. This will make travel easier for devotees who previously had to route their journeys through Chennai, Bengaluru or Hyderabad.
Foreign travellers can now arrive at Tirupati Airport with a valid e-Visa and complete the required immigration process there. Tirupati Airport was declared an international airport in 2008, with the move aimed at facilitating direct connectivity for the large number of pilgrims, including foreign visitors. Although international flight services are not currently operating from Tirupati, the latest decision could strengthen the prospects for future international connectivity.
