Gold Hair Ornament Donated to Vijayawada Kanaka Durga Temple

The family of Borra Radhakrishna (Gandhi), chairman of the governing board of the Durga Temple, donated a gold hair ornament worth ₹11 lakh for the decoration of Goddess Durga on Sunday. The ornament features motifs of Goddess Lakshmi and other divine forms and is embellished with precious green stones and pearls. Radhakrishna said the donation fulfilled a vow he had made nearly 20 years ago when he first visited the temple. After taking charge as chairman, he was able to fulfil the vow with the support of his family members and friends.

Radhakrishna said friends associated with him had voluntarily contributed around ₹1.16 crore during his tenure towards the development of the Shiva temple, annadanam, free prasadam, gold and silver ornaments and cow protection initiatives. He also revealed that another friend is preparing to donate a diamond-studded gold crown worth ₹75 lakh to the Goddess within the next 15 days. Temple officials, priests, members of the Vedic committee and governing board members attended the donation programme.
