Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) prices have been increased once again across the country by oil marketing companies. The latest hike of ₹2 per kilogram came into effect from May 15, marking the fourth increase in CNG prices this month. With the recent revision, the price of CNG in the national capital New Delhi has risen to ₹83.09 per kg. Earlier, prices were increased by ₹2 on May 15, ₹1 on May 18, and another ₹1 on May 23.
Overall, CNG prices have surged by ₹6 per kilogram in the last 11 days. Oil marketing companies are reportedly increasing prices due to disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz and ongoing tensions involving Iran, which are impacting crude oil and gas supplies globally. The latest hike is expected to significantly raise operational costs for cab drivers and auto-rickshaw operators. Logistics expenses are also likely to increase, which may eventually affect the retail prices of essential commodities.
