The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has intensified action against misleading food claims and violations of labeling regulations. The authority has issued notices to several Food Business Operators (FBOs), directing them to submit clarifications within seven days regarding the disputed claims.
Heritage Foods received a notice over claims such as “Fresh Paneer” and “Healthy”. DIA Foods was questioned for claims including “All Natural”, “100% Organic”, and “Vegan” without necessary approvals in its FSSAI license. Cipzer was issued a notice for claims like “FSSAI Approved”, “Boost your immune system”, “Remove toxins”, and “Made with Organic Vegetables”. FSSAI warned that companies failing to respond may face action under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.
