The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has issued notices to six popular energy drink brands over alleged misleading labeling practices. According to the authority, these companies have been marketing their products as "energy drinks" without adhering to any officially prescribed standards for such products. FSSAI stated that the labeling could mislead consumers and has sought explanations from the respective companies.
The brands that received notices include Red Bull, PepsiCo’s Adrenaline Rush, Campa Gold Boost, Sting, Hell Energy, and Coca-Cola’s Monster Energy. FSSAI clarified that it has not prescribed any specific standards for products marketed as energy drinks and emphasized that consumers should not be misled through inaccurate or unsupported product claims. The authority is expected to review the responses before taking further action.
