Former Andhra Pradesh Minister and veteran Kapu leader Mudragada Padmanabham passed away at a hospital in Hyderabad while undergoing treatment for respiratory-related health issues. His demise marks the end of a significant political journey spanning several decades, during which he played a key role in state politics and the Kapu community movement.
Born in 1953 at Kirlampudi in East Godavari district, Mudragada entered politics in 1978 by winning as a Janata Party MLA. He went on to become a four-time legislator and served as a minister in the governments of N.T. Rama Rao and M. Chenna Reddy. Ahead of the 2024 Assembly elections, he joined the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP), marking the latest phase of his political career.
