

Former Trinamool Congress (TMC) MLA and senior party leader Ashish Banerjee was found dead at a party office adjacent to his residence in Rampurhat, Birbhum district, West Bengal, on Sunday morning. Police said his body was found hanging inside the office premises. The body was sent for postmortem examination to determine the exact cause of death. A purported suicide note was also recovered from the spot, and investigators are examining its authenticity and the circumstances surrounding the death.
Banerjee was a prominent TMC leader from Birbhum and had represented the Rampurhat Assembly constituency multiple times. He had also served as Deputy Speaker of the West Bengal Legislative Assembly and held ministerial responsibilities in the state government. Police said the investigation is underway and that all relevant aspects are being examined before drawing any conclusions about the circumstances of his death.
