Former CBI Director Calls for Independent Probe into Trainee IPS Uday Krishna Reddy Case

Former CBI Director M. Nageswara Rao has called for an independent investigation into the case involving trainee IPS officer Uday Krishna Reddy. In an email to Telangana DGP C.V. Anand, Rao reportedly suggested that the case be transferred to the CBCID or another independent investigative agency. He raised questions over the circumstances surrounding Reddy’s arrest and whether relevant factors, including the possibility of influencing witnesses or evading investigation, were properly assessed.

Rao also questioned the progression of the allegations in the case, pointing to differences he said existed between the initial complaint and the allegations later reflected in the remand report. He further referred to the involvement of senior police officials in the investigation and said an independent probe would help address concerns surrounding the case. The call comes amid wider public discussion over the allegations against the trainee IPS officer and the handling of the investigation.
