Indian captain Smit Machchhar, who was injured in an attack by the co-pilot aboard a Flydubai flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv, suffered serious wounds, according to accounts from those who treated him. Israeli dentist Dr. Shota Musayev, who was onboard, said Machchhar was bleeding heavily, particularly from injuries to his head and hands. Musayev provided emergency medical assistance, controlled the bleeding and worked to stabilize the pilot’s blood pressure.
Machchhar was later taken to a hospital in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia, after the aircraft made an emergency landing. While his condition was initially described as concerning amid the heavy blood loss, the Indian Embassy later said he was in stable condition and receiving medical treatment. Dr. Musayev’s prompt intervention onboard was described as crucial in helping stabilize the injured pilot before he reached the hospital.
