

Captain Smit Machchhar, who was seriously injured during the flydubai cockpit incident, is currently receiving treatment at a hospital in Abu Dhabi and is recovering well, according to the Indian Embassy in the UAE. The embassy said Machchhar remains under excellent medical care and that officials are in contact with his family and local authorities while extending support for his recovery. The mission also thanked the UAE government for the medical assistance being provided to the Indian pilot.
UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Dubai Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum also visited Machchhar at the hospital on Saturday. Following the meeting, Hamdan praised the pilot for demonstrating courage, responsibility and concern for human life during the incident. Machchhar was injured after an alleged attack by his co-pilot on flydubai flight FZ1073, which was subsequently diverted to Saudi Arabia and landed safely. Investigations into the incident are continuing.
