First Connectivity Between Amaravati and the National Highway

The E-13 Extension Road is set to become the first road connecting Amaravati, the capital city, with NH-16. Two ‘E’ series roads were planned in the Amaravati master plan to link the capital with the national highway. While the Seed Axis Road can connect to NH-16 only after Phase-3 works begin, the E-13 road has already made significant progress. The 10.45-km project is being developed in two phases, with the first 7.3-km stretch from Nekkallu and Ananthavaram to Yerrabalem costing Rs. 208 crore.

The 3.43-km E-13 Extension is the more complex section, with an estimated cost of over Rs. 400 crore. A 609-metre Railway Over Bridge (ROB), being funded by the Centre at an estimated Rs. 274 crore, is also part of the project. The road will run from Yerrabalem through Don Bosco School, the Vijayawada-Guntur railway track, Dolas Nagar hills, AIIMS and the DGP office before joining NH-16. The six-lane, 60-metre-wide road includes hill-cutting and an elevated corridor. The ROB had faced a land issue involving 3.34 acres of AIIMS land, but the matter was resolved last month, clearing the way for construction.
